About this role

The Retail Pharmacist is responsible for all aspects of retail pharmacy operation within area assigned including inventory, workflow and security with an emphasis on customer service. This role plays a critical role in advancing patient-centered care by integrating outpatient dispensing services with the broader health system. It supports medication access, adherence, and clinical outcomes.

Daily responsibilities include managing inventory levels, optimizing workflow efficiency, and ensuring pharmacy security protocols. The pharmacist collaborates with providers, care teams, and specialty pharmacy services to enhance patient outcomes. Varying shifts support a standard 40-hour weekly schedule.

This position operates within Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, the cornerstone of Cook Children's health system. Team integration fosters comprehensive pediatric care delivery.

Opportunities include serving as a pharmacist and pharmacy preceptor after licensure requirements. New graduates can obtain preceptor license within specified timelines. Preferred credentials like Certified Specialty Pharmacy support career advancement in patient-centered pharmacy services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited school required
  • Texas Pharmacist License or eligible for Texas Licensure as a registered pharmacist
  • Pharmacist and pharmacy preceptor licensure must be obtained within 90 days of employment
  • New graduates must obtain their preceptor license within 90 days after one year of being licensed as a pharmacist
  • ACPE Immunization Certification
  • Certified Specialty Pharmacy (CSP) credential preferred

  • Dispense medications accurately for pediatric patients
  • Counsel patients and families on medication use
  • Maintain compliance with pharmacy security and inventory standards
