About this role
Interprets prescriptions and dispenses pharmaceuticals and related devices in accordance with federal, state and local laws. Provides patient information and counseling. Supervises technical staff and demonstrates courteous, compassionate care for customers and co-workers.
Reviews patients’ utilization, therapeutic duplications, disease state, drug interactions, allergies, dosage and duration of treatment, and takes appropriate action when concerns arise. Contacts prescribers for clarifications or to notify of unobtainable medications. Verifies appropriate pharmaceutical agent, calculates accurate doses, and prepares compounded prescriptions and IV medications.
Supervises technical staff, remains physically present in the pharmacy, and personally reviews all professional pharmaceutical activity. Manages workflow, assigns workloads, approves overtime and time off. Assists in orienting new staff, interns and externs to the department.
Oversees cash management, ordering and inventory of pharmaceuticals to maintain quality and cost-effective products. Acts as pharmacist in charge in absence of managing pharmacist. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy and licensed pharmacist in the State of Ohio
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form
- Excellent decision-making, conflict resolution and investigative skills
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Ability to work under stress
- Computer skills with knowledge of pharmacy software
