The Pharmacy Manager is a licensed Pharmacist responsible for operation oversight and compliance at a small format pharmacy site. This includes safety, quality, customer experience, budgetary goals, people development, and operations objectives. The role requires hands-on involvement in dispensing medications and managing the full prescription fulfillment process from initiation to shipment.

You will lead a small team of technicians and pharmacists, coaching and mentoring to meet performance objectives while building positive employee relations and leadership bench strength. Daily work involves filling, verifying, and packing orders for shipment alongside pharmacist verifications, all with a strong commitment to patient safety and high service standards.

This position offers the opportunity to drive quality initiatives, Lean processes, and workforce growth in partnership with capacity planning and facilities teams. You will align operations with requirements from accrediting and licensing bodies while developing talent through engagement, training, and succession planning.

Requirements

  • Licensed Pharmacist responsible for operation oversight and compliance
  • Strong commitment to patient safety and high standards of service
  • Ability to educate pharmacy staff on policies, reporting guidelines, and best quality practices
  • Experience managing workflow, escalations, and delegating across a leadership team
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to pharmacy practices
  • Familiarity with requirements from accrediting and licensing bodies such as BOP, VIPPS, URAC, DEA, FDA, and USP

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience of the operations.
  • Manage daily operations within the site, including meeting CPT times for same day deliveries in partnership with co-located facilities and transportation.
  • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration.
  • Set and clarify requirements and expectations for employees, measure performance, provide feedback, and hold the team to a high bar.
  • Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable the site to meet and exceed the operating plan.
  • Stay informed and adhere to local, state, and federal laws related to pharmacy practices and coordinate with the corporate legal team to maintain licensure.
  • Align policies and initiatives with requirements from accrediting and licensing bodies including BOP, VIPPS, URAC, DEA, FDA, and USP.
  • Develop talent through safety, employee engagement, performance leadership, training, development, and succession planning.
