About this role

This role is for a highly motivated, self-starter seeking a challenging career with a fast-growing specialty pharmacy management services company. The Lead Pharmacy Technician provides integrated support to patients and pharmacists through a hands-on approach to total quality patient care.

Day-to-day responsibilities include working closely with patients to deliver a full continuum of medication adherence support, utilizing various tools and applications. The technician educates prospective pharmacy patients on how the hospital serves them and improves overall care, while also supporting outpatient retail and specialty prescription medication needs.

Based in one of the medical center clinics, this role requires seamless integration with the clinic team, including doctors, nurses, and staff. The technician must establish strong, credible relationships with patients, clinicians, and internal Shields staff, working both face-to-face and over the phone.

This position offers the opportunity to grow the specialty pharmacy's patient population and help develop new processes to ensure smooth operations and patient care. The successful candidate will act as a value-added business partner to stakeholders and contribute to a close-knit team environment.

Requirements

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the State of employment
  • Nationally certified as a CPhT preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently and establish strong, credible relationships with patients, clinicians, and internal staff
  • Results-oriented with a positive outlook and clear focus on high patient quality and service
  • Detail-oriented with strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Mature, approachable, professional, and comfortable dealing with others both in-person and on the phone
  • Reliable, tolerant, determined, and an empathetic communicator able to see things from the other person's point of view
  • Able to work as a member of a close-knit team

Responsibilities

  • Provide 'legendary' care to hospital patients by offering a full suite of custom medication management services
  • Educate prospective pharmacy patients on how the hospital serves them and improves overall care
  • Support outpatient retail and specialty prescription medication needs
  • Ensure patients remain on track with medication regimens through outbound therapy and adherence check-ups, securing refill prescriptions
  • Resolve insurance-related issues, including prior authorizations, and assist patients with various forms of financial assistance
  • Manage, organize, and update relevant data using database applications
  • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and customer-service standards
