About this role

The successful candidate will provide integrated support to patients and pharmacists by delivering a hands-on approach to total quality patient care through a full continuum of medication adherence support. This role exists within a fast-growing company focused on specialty pharmacy management services. Candidates must be nationally certified and registered as technicians with the State of employment.

Daily work includes interpreting and entering prescriptions, performing pharmaceutical calculations, and labeling medications for pharmacist verification. Technicians identify medications requiring special storage or handling and assemble necessary supplies such as sharps containers and syringes. Medications are prepared for delivery to patients and departments.

Direct patient interaction occurs over the phone to support medication awareness and conduct outbound adherence check-ups. Insurance issues are resolved while securing refill prescriptions and assisting with financial aid forms. Inventory is maintained through drug ordering and receiving activities.

The position requires achieving operational objectives by managing data in database applications and applying recommendations to improve productivity and quality. Active participation in process improvement initiatives supports the organization while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive patient information.

Requirements

  • Nationally certified as CPhT or equivalent and registered with the State of employment
  • 1+ years experience as a Pharmacy Technician required
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong phone skills and highly proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Word
  • Able to quickly learn database programs and extract relevant information
  • Organized with high integrity, attention to detail, and quality focus

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and enter prescriptions
  • Clarify prescription orders with pharmacist and clinician as appropriate
  • Label and fill prescriptions for the pharmacist to verify
  • Perform pharmaceutical calculations
  • Identify medications requiring special storage and handling such as hazardous or refrigerated medications
