About this role
The clinical pharmacist I practices as a pharmacy generalist in home infusion patient care areas. Infusion experience is highly desired. This role participates in departmental or institutional quality, safety, and cost-saving initiatives while ensuring appropriate therapy and institutional outcomes.
Proactively reviews and processes orders accurately and efficiently to prevent and resolve drug-related problems. Performs daily in-depth patient profile review to assess, monitor, and recommend appropriate drug therapy. Consistently evaluates, intervenes, and documents clinical interventions according to institutional protocols.
Engages with other clinical pharmacists and leadership for complex situations and attends medical codes as applicable. Oversees work performed by pharmacy students, technicians, and pharmacists to ensure performance standards. Handles conflict and ethical issues constructively while reinforcing medication policies.
Maintains clinical competency through licensure and departmental requirements. Serves as preceptor for pharmacy students and participates in at least one medication use evaluation or quality improvement project annually. Engages in departmental mentorship, research, and publication opportunities.
Requirements
- One year of relevant experience; waived for Emory Healthcare student/interns
- Pharmacy Specialty Board certification or ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency preferred
- Eligible for Georgia pharmacy licensure required prior to start date
- Infusion experience highly desired
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months if applicable to practice specialty
Responsibilities

- Documents clinical activities, adverse drug events, and medication variances per policy
- Oversees work of pharmacy students, technicians, and pharmacists to maintain standards
- Participates in at least one medication use evaluation or quality improvement project annually
