About this role
The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is seeking an experienced Oncology Pharmacy Technician to support a community-based oncology practice through medication preparation, inventory management, and coordination of specialty pharmaceutical needs. This role requires strong compounding skills and a commitment to patient safety.
Under supervision of licensed healthcare professionals, this technician prepares and mixes chemotherapy drugs, maintains supply levels, and coordinates with pharmaceutical companies for sample medications. The role involves daily operations Monday through Friday, with no nights, weekends, or major holidays.
CCBD provides comprehensive cancer care including diagnostics, treatment, clinical trials, and patient support, serving the Bethesda and Germantown communities for over 25 years. The practice values a collaborative environment where technicians work closely with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy supervisors.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a pharmacy technician with strong compounding skills (required).
- Prior oncology pharmacy experience (strongly preferred).
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to patient safety and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Proficiency with medication dispensing systems, preferably Nucleus.
- Knowledge of federal/state regulations, patient privacy (HIPAA), and OSHA standards.
- Ability to handle biohazardous materials safely and maintain compliance records.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and mix chemotherapy drugs and solutions under licensed supervision, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
- Maintain proficiency with the Nucleus medication dispensing system for accurate medication dispensing and par-level management.
- Order, stock, and track medical supplies and medications to maintain appropriate inventory levels and minimize waste.
- Perform daily and annual maintenance of chemotherapy hoods and manage ambulatory pump documentation.
- Handle biohazardous waste disposal safely and compliantly, including recordkeeping and coordination with Accounting.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, supervisors, and pharmaceutical representatives to support patient care and operational needs.
- Assist in training new pharmacy technicians and nursing staff on chemotherapy preparation and Nucleus system workflows.
