About this role

As a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Mount Carmel East, you will assist the pharmacist in ensuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients under direct supervision. This role is vital to maintaining safe and efficient pharmacy operations during Friday - Sunday night 12-hour shifts.

Your daily responsibilities include unit dose dispensing, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, medication packaging, inventory control, record keeping, and billing. You will also operate automated technology such as Parata Systems and Medical Packaging Inc robots to repackage bulk oral medications.

You will work closely with the pharmacy team on our patient care units, facilitating medication dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets and processing daily pharmacy orders. The team environment emphasizes building a collaborative identity and upholding a culture of excellence.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification
  • Active registration as a Certified Tech with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred
  • Effective communication skills
  • Aptitude in mathematical manipulations (ratios, proportions, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions)
  • Desire to career build with ambition to elevate working pharmacy knowledge to the extent of certification

Responsibilities

  • Establish a working identity with our Pharmacy Team and build upon our culture
  • Prepare sterile products (including chemotherapy) using aseptic technique in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Prepare non-sterile products (including hazardous medication) in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Repackage bulk oral medication using Parata Systems and Medical Packaging Inc robots
  • Facilitate medication dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets on patient care units
  • Assist in dispensing orders/prescriptions through the pharmacy inventory system
  • Assist in inventory control by processing daily Pharmacy Department orders, ensuring proper stock rotation, storage, and expiration dating
  • Assist the department with proper billing of patients and other units
