About this role

Monitors drug therapy to improve patient outcomes and quality of care, recommending rational and cost-effective pharmacotherapeutic alternatives. Provides accurate and efficient medication distribution while supervising pharmacy technical staff.

Implements and evaluates nutritional support and pharmacokinetic regimens for patients in a fast-paced environment. Works as part of a Level 1 Trauma Center with 971 beds, the largest Emergency Department in the state, and specialized units including a Level III Regional Neonatal ICU.

Supervises pharmacy technical staff and collaborates with healthcare teams across multiple medical and step-down units. Responds to medical emergencies and provides clinical support during evening hours. Must prioritize and change tasks frequently in a dynamic, 2nd shift setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited university.
  • License to practice pharmacy in Alabama required.
  • Completion of post-graduate pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical experience strongly preferred.
  • Proof of current AHA BLS certification required (obtained by end of orientation).
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
  • Proficient in mathematics.
