About this role

This Pharmacy Technician role involves assisting in all phases of dispensing prescriptions and maintaining adequate inventory of drugs and supplies under direct supervision of the pharmacist on duty. Adherence to the Corporate Compliance program is required, including reporting any improper or unethical conduct.

Primary duties include counting and pouring pharmaceuticals using apothecary and metric weights and measures. Reconstitution of pediatric solutions and suspensions, selection of containers, and label application are done under pharmacist supervision. The technician also maintains patient lists with allergy and Medicaid information.

The role also involves maintaining proper audit trails for prescription refills, including daily and monthly audits. Ordering drugs and maintaining inventory of supplies like plastic containers and bottles is a key responsibility, along with general housekeeping and rotating stock to check for expiration dates on a monthly basis.

This position works in a community health center environment serving a diverse population. Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are preferred to effectively assist patients. The technician contributes to patient care by ensuring accurate medication dispensing and inventory control.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of experience in customer relations.
  • Computer literate.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Ability to type 25 WPM.
  • High school level mathematics knowledge.
