About this role

MassHealth is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Manager to join the Pharmacy Program under the direction of the Deputy Director of Clinical Pharmacy. This role involves assisting with the development and management of the MassHealth Drug List along with various clinical initiatives and oversight programs.

The manager will handle aspects of the specialty pharmacy program and recommend therapeutic interchanges using clinical data and economic evaluations. Additional tasks include analyzing cost data for formulary decisions and monitoring clinical programs to plan new initiatives.

Working as part of the MassHealth team, this position serves as a liaison to sister agencies, the Drug Utilization Review Program, pharmacy providers, and the pharmaceutical industry. The role supports Accountable Care Organization pharmacy oversight and quality improvement efforts.

Opportunities exist to lead pharmacy strategy workgroups and participate in quality assurance initiatives. The position allows for making clinical recommendations to stakeholders and contributing to policy development within the pharmacy program.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for licensure or current pharmacist license in good standing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Previous medical and medication review experience.
  • Implement policy, including developing policy, obtaining support from necessary parties, and disseminating information.

Responsibilities

  • Manage select aspects of the specialty pharmacy program.
  • Recommend appropriate therapeutic interchanges based on clinical information, economic evaluations and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze cost data and make formulary recommendations.
  • Analyze data and clinical appropriateness for supplemental rebates and present findings to senior management for action.
  • Lead pharmacy strategy workgroups to ensure that deliverables are met and that program or initiative implementation is optimized.
  • Evaluate appropriate therapeutic classes for procurement based on utilization and clinical information.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
