About this role

Shriners Children's Boston has a PRN opportunity available for a Clinical Pharmacist. Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, this position will provide clinical pharmacy services, pharmacy student teaching and pharmacy operational duties.

The role involves reviewing physician's drug orders to ensure accuracy and providing timely advice. The pharmacist prepares and oversees medications, including compounded sterile products, manages inventory, and recommends patient-specific pharmacotherapy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor in Pharmacy (required)
  • Pharmacy license in state of practice (required)
  • PharmD degree (preferred)
  • 2 years Hospital Pharmacy experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of pediatric pharmacotherapy and medication safety
  • Experience with sterile compounding and aseptic technique

Responsibilities

  • Review physician's drug orders and provide quality and timely advice to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness.
  • Appropriately prepare and oversee the preparation of medications and compounded sterile products for use.
  • Conduct and oversee the preparation and dispensing of medications, guided by professional standards of practice.
  • Oversee inventory management in the pharmacy and in all medication storage areas to ensure proper and appropriate stock.
  • Recommend, monitor, and evaluate patient-specific pharmacotherapy.
  • Assist the Director with precepting pharmacy technicians and students.
  • Review controlled substance records and promote medication event management and tracking.
  • Assume operational aspects of the Pharmacy Department in the Director's absence.
