About this role

UC Health is hiring a Pharmacy Technician Operations Coordinator at the University of Cincinnati’s Medical Center Contract Pharmacy. Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, this role is responsible for developing and planning the nonprofessional operations of the department.

Day-to-day tasks include managing purchasing, diversion auditing, technology management, inventory management, distribution, and record keeping for medications. They initiate purchase orders, receive supplies, process requisitions, and authorize payments for wholesaler invoices while maintaining adequate inventory levels.

This role collaborates within their facility and across the UC Health system for medication ordering, inventory management, and auditing to ensure regulatory standards are met. The University of Cincinnati Medical Center is part of Greater Cincinnati’s academic health system, serving patients for nearly 200 years.

The coordinator maintains an active technician certification and the competency to assist in times of extreme technician shortage or emergency. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to work both on-site at UC Medical Center and remotely, with a learning environment that allows for constant development.

Requirements

  • Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT).
  • Knowledge of medication procurement, inventory management, and distribution processes.
  • Experience managing purchasing for 340B compliance and vaccine programs (VFC).
  • Ability to coordinate with wholesalers, vendors, and freight companies.
  • Proficiency in record keeping, purchase orders, and inventory control systems.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and maintain regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing, diversion auditing, technology management, inventory management, distribution, and record keeping.
  • Initiate purchase orders, receive supplies, process requisitions, and authorize payments for wholesaler invoices.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels and communicate about shortages, recalls, and alternative product sources.
  • Collaborate across facility and system for medication ordering, inventory management, auditing, and record keeping.
  • Maintain active technician certification and assist in times of extreme technician shortage or emergency.
