About this role

This position assists the Community Pharmacy Manager with the direction and development of pharmacy staff to optimize patient experience and delivery of services. The Community Staff Pharmacist provides direct patient care including drug regimen review, disease state management, medication counseling, adherence monitoring, discharge medication reconciliation, prescription dispensing, and immunization administration. Proficient with all steps of dispensing and verification workflows.

Responsible for performing all pharmacy operations in accordance with accredited policies, ethical practices, Board of Pharmacy, and state and federal requirements. Maintains appropriate patient record documentation for clinical and dispensing services, adheres to best practices for medication safety, and ensures documentation of medication events. Manages inventory functions, including maintaining 340B program integrity as applicable.

Assists the manager with oversight of pharmacy operations and personnel, supports the orientation, training, and development of community pharmacy staff. Ensures compliance with Baptist Health policies, 340B program, accrediting bodies, REMS, third-party payers, and regulations. Coordinates safe transitions of care from the hospital with patients, caregivers, providers, and pharmacies.

Performs responsibilities of Community Pharmacy Manager during their absence, ensures prompt and friendly service prioritizing patient well-being. Available to travel to other community pharmacies within KY including Corbin, Richmond, Lexington, and Hamburg. Requirements

  • Indiana Board of Pharmacy license in good standing
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Community Pharmacy experience preferred
  • Must obtain Immunization certification within 6 months
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must be available to travel to other community pharmacies within KY (Corbin, Richmond, Lexington and Hamburg)

Responsibilities

  • Assists the manager with oversight of pharmacy operations and personnel
  • Supports the orientation, training, and development of community pharmacy staff
  • Ensures compliance with Baptist Health policies, 340B program, accrediting bodies, REMS compliance, third-party payers, and state and federal regulations
  • Ensures adequate control and documentation of controlled substance ordering, receiving, inventory management, and dispensing
  • Maintains compliance with immunization protocols and ensures all staff have current training, including BLS CPR certification
  • Monitors drug shortages and implements solutions to avoid therapy delays
  • Supports the development and implementation of strategies to eliminate or minimize medication errors
  • Performs responsibilities of Community Pharmacy Manager during their absence
