Put your retail pharmacy skills to use in a different environment. Mercy Health is actively seeking a PRN floating pharmacist to provide sporadic shift coverage in Toledo Metro Outpatient Pharmacies including St Vincent, St Anne, St Charles, and Perrysburg. Weekday shifts are no more than 8 hours long between 8am and 6pm; weekend shifts at St Vincent are 9a-3p.

The ideal candidate will use excellent customer service skills to serve hospital discharge patients and loyal regulars. It's retail pharmacy with a twist, focusing on meds to beds and community service.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS or PharmD
  • Advanced pharmacy degree such as Doctor of Pharmacy, Masters, or Residency preferred
  • Active pharmacist license required
  • Knowledge of medication management to ensure safe, rational, and cost-effective therapy
  • Compliance with Federal, State, and accrediting agencies rules and regulations
  • Ability to maintain departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
  • Skills in order processing, compounding, and distribution oversight
  • Experience in patient education and adverse event resolution

Responsibilities

  • Process orders and provide medication review for appropriateness, safety, and efficacy during order processing
  • Ensure accurate preparation of compounded and non-compounded products with safe handling consistent with regulations
  • Oversee distributive functions of the pharmacy department for accurate and timely medication availability
  • Oversee pharmacy technicians and support personnel activities based on department need
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability for the security of pharmacy inventory
  • Identify, document, and resolve potential and actual adverse medication events
  • Perform medication education to improve patient understanding and adherence
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacy team members, healthcare providers, patients, and leaders
