About this role
Under the supervision of the pharmacist in charge of the outpatient pharmacy, the Retail Pharmacist coordinates the activities of the pharmacy department. This ensures the highest quality of pharmaceutical care to all patients served by the hospital or outpatient pharmacy. Patient safety remains a core focus in all operations.
The scope of patient care provided includes General Medicine/Surgical, Intensive Care Services, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Emergency Care, Oncology, Peri-operative, Geriatrics, and Outpatient Services. Coordinates daily pharmacy activities to support these diverse areas effectively. Ensures seamless pharmaceutical support across hospital departments.
Works in the Pharmacy - Outpatient department at a facility serving Elgin, IL patients. Per diem schedule is Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm, with Friday availability needed. Operates within a hospital environment focused on comprehensive patient services.

Requirements
- Current state Registered Pharmacist License
- Experience in retail pharmacy operations preferred
- B.S. degree in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred
- Vaccine license preferred (as allowed by state)
- BLS certification preferred (required if active vaccination license)
Responsibilities
- Coordinate activities of the pharmacy department under supervision of the pharmacist in charge
- Provide highest quality pharmaceutical care to hospital and outpatient pharmacy patients
- Ensure patient safety in all pharmacy operations
- Support pharmaceutical needs for General Medicine/Surgical patients
- Deliver care in Intensive Care Services, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Pediatrics
- Assist Emergency Care, Oncology, Peri-operative, Geriatrics, and Outpatient Services
