About this role
The Retail Pharmacist supervises all staff personnel activities and enforces all pharmacy departmental policies and procedures. Helps develop departmental procedures with assistance from pharmacy staff members and personnel from other departments to ensure optimal delivery of retail pharmacy services. Manages site-specific pharmacy information systems and performs daily pharmacist activities as needed.
Coordinates personnel scheduling, submits payroll in accordance with Network policies, and develops departmental budgets, goals, and objectives. Resolves problems, situations, or questions concerning medication therapy or logistics between Pharmacy and other hospital departments. Oversees procurement, storage, reconciliation of controlled substance systems and reports to DEA as required.
Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network and complies with policies regarding employee, patient, and environmental safety. Demonstrates the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance and maintains a high level of Customer Service. Assures completion of Customer Complaint documentation and serves as a medication resource to patients and other departments.
Reports and tracks medication errors, taking appropriate measures to prevent and correct them. Assists in developing and overseeing new projects and services, including site-specific MEDS bedside delivery. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in clinical care, customer service, operational systems, and safety.
Requirements
- Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment knowledge of growth and development, and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated
- Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity
- Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient, and environmental safety
- Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance
- Knowledge of pharmacy information systems management and troubleshooting
- Understanding of controlled substance procurement, storage, reconciliation, and DEA reporting
- Ability to resolve medication therapy and logistics issues across departments
- Financial responsibility and accountability through efficient use of resources
