Daily duties include preparing, compounding, and distributing medications under pharmacist supervision, including sterile IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition. Technicians ensure timely delivery of urgent stat requests, maintain accurate inventory by ordering, stocking, and removing expired items, and enter data in pharmacy systems.

The Hospital Pharmacy team is collaborative, dedicated to safe, timely medication use across inpatient and outpatient care. Team members work closely with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff for coordinated, high-quality patient care in a fiercely independent system voted a Top Workplace.

Requirements

  • Registered, or eligible to be registered, as a pharmacy technician by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy
  • Hospital pharmacy experience preferred, including sterile compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous drugs
  • Proficiency in math calculations as related to pharmacy
  • Basic computer skills for Windows-based programs, including Word and Excel
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with physicians, staff, and patients
  • Basic telephone skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compound, and distribute medications accurately and safely under pharmacist supervision
  • Perform sterile compounding, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition
  • Ensure timely medication delivery, including urgent stat requests, to support patient care
  • Maintain accurate medication inventory, including ordering, stocking, and removing expired items
  • Enter and manage prescription and medication data within pharmacy systems
  • Support regulatory compliance through proper documentation, inspections, and quality checks
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and care teams to ensure efficient pharmacy operations
  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy workspaces and equipment
