About this role

Pharmacy Technicians assist with preparation and distribution of medications. They are eligible for advanced technician positions based upon job performance and successful completion of requirements for advancement established in the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder criteria grids. This role supports the pharmacy team's operations in a hospital setting.

Daily tasks include receiving and stocking deliveries of pharmaceuticals, preparing, packaging, and labeling medications prior to dispensing. Technicians deliver medications to care areas and off-site locations, manage inventory using electronic systems, monitor product expirations, respond to recalls, and compound non-sterile and sterile preparations. They also clean, disinfect, and perform clerical duties like answering phones.

Work in a small, collaborative pharmacy team that values reliability, adaptability, and a positive, team-oriented mindset. Each technician plays a meaningful role in delivering safe, high-quality care. The position follows a consistent 3-week schedule repeating every 6 weeks, with every 3rd weekend, holiday rotation, and Thursdays off.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • No prior work experience required
  • National certification (CPhT) strongly preferred
  • Reliability and adaptability in a small team environment
  • Positive, team-oriented mindset
  • Compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient data
  • Ability to work every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation
  • Flexibility for occasional work outside scheduled shifts

Responsibilities

  • Receives and stocks deliveries of pharmaceuticals and other supplies
  • Prepares, packages, and labels medications prior to dispensing
  • Delivers medications to care areas within the hospital
  • Delivers medications to off-site locations
  • Manages pharmacy inventory, including use of electronic inventory management systems
  • Monitors product expirations and removes outdated stock from inventory
  • Responds to product recalls
  • Compounds non-sterile and sterile medication preparations
