About this role
Pharmacy Technicians are an integral part of the pharmacy team in the hospital pharmacy. Primary responsibilities include processing medications and interacting with all members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal medication use. This role supports acute care operations at the 32nd Avenue Building.
Daily duties encompass inventory control, non-sterile and/or sterile compounding, and care of supplies and equipment. Technicians also manage automation systems and perform other tasks as assigned by the pharmacist and pharmacy leadership. These activities contribute to efficient medication distribution in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Team members collaborate closely with pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and leadership in the Department of Hospital Pharmacy - 32nd Hosp. The role involves assisting the broader healthcare team to promote safe and effective patient care. Interaction occurs across various hospital settings focused on acute needs.
Opportunities include completing employer-based training programs and core sterile compounding training. Technicians progress toward national certification within two years of hire. Ongoing registration and certification maintenance support long-term role fulfillment in pharmacy services.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1040 hours of pharmacy technician experience
- For internal transfers: Completion of Essentia Health’s and Pharmacy Department’s orientation requirements, and Core Sterile Compounding Training Program
- For external hires: Experience with sterile compounding or graduate from an ASHP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program, complete Core Sterile Compounding Training within 6 months
- Earn and maintain Certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from PTCB or NHA within 2 years of hire
- Maintain registration(s) immediately and certification(s) post two years for duration of employment
- Meet Minnesota Board of Pharmacy education/experience categories if in MN location
- Meet North Dakota Board of Pharmacy education requirements if in ND location
Responsibilities
