About this role
Coordinates and supervises the work of pharmacy technicians and pharmacists to ensure efficient operation of the Retail Pharmacy. Serves as an active leader in the supervision of the pharmacy team, caring for patients across all age groups from neonates to geriatrics.
Oversees services provided by the retail pharmacy and the discharge prescription service. Manages proper handling of equipment and software, and is proficient with POS system cash register usage including check out and monitoring procedures.
Promotes professional development of pharmacists and technicians, and makes departmental personnel decisions regarding selection, promotion, and discipline. Resolves problems and mediates conflicts encountered during daily operations.
Assists the Pharmacy Manager or Director in preparing schedules to assure adequate coverage, including weekends and holidays. Provides orientation, training, and ongoing educational opportunities, and completes performance evaluations within established time frames.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy
- Registered Georgia Pharmacy license required
- B.S Pharm or Pharm D. from an accredited college of pharmacy
- Three (3) years experience as a retail pharmacist required
- Previous supervisor experience preferred
- Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership abilities including coaching and mentoring
- Strong financial knowledge including managing within defined budget (salaries, supplies, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Responsible for quality of work of employees to ensure maximum utilization of Pharmacy services
- Assist Pharmacy Manager or Director in preparing schedules including vacations, weekends, and holidays to assure adequate coverage
- Counsel with employees on work performance and attitude, documenting in personnel files
- Responsible for proper handling and control of equipment and software utilized by the Retail Pharmacy
- Possess thorough understanding of third party insurance including billing, prior approval process, audit procedures and preparation
- Proficient with functionality of POS system cash register usage including check out and monitoring procedures
- Make departmental personnel decisions regarding employment selection, promotion, demotion, transfer, and termination
- Monitor all patient parameters and prescription orders to provide safe and effective care
