About this role
PharMerica is hiring a full-time Pharmacy Technician for its closed-door pharmacy serving long-term care and senior living clients in Asheville. The non-retail setting focuses on meeting pharmaceutical needs with accurate medication access and compliance support. Daily work includes filling prescription items, packaging medications, and accurately labeling products with cautionary and auxiliary labels. Technicians prepare medications through non-sterile compounding and enter patient and prescription data into the computer system to generate labels. Inventory management and handling returned medications per protocol are also required.

Staff assist with onboarding new pharmacy team members and perform specialized tasks such as operating automated prepack machines and servicing facility-based dispensing systems. Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Pharmacy Technician license as required by state.
- Experience in a pharmacy setting and medical terminology.
- Ability to operate a computer and recognize and identify medications.
- Detail oriented with goal orientation and effective oral communication.
Responsibilities
- Fill prescription items and package medications for dispensing and delivery.
- Accurately label products, including cautionary and auxiliary labels.
- Prepare medications, including non-sterile compounding of liquids, powders, and ointments.
- Enter patient and prescription data into the computer system to generate labels.
- Participate in pharmacy inventory management, including checking stock and removing expired medications.
- Handle returned medications per protocol for credit or destruction.
- Perform specialized tasks such as working in the Controlled Drugs Room and mixing IV medications.
- Service facility-based dispensing machines and assist with onboarding new pharmacy staff.
