About this role

Assists pharmacy staff with general duties and provides support to pharmacy technicians and pharmacists at University of Rochester. Maintains and replenishes inventory of medications and supplies. Responsible for general cleaning and tidying of the main pharmacy area.

Organizes and sends medications excluding controlled substances to patient care units using the pneumatic tube delivery system. Ensures timely delivery to correct locations after pharmacist verification. Hand delivers medications needed STAT or unsuitable for tube system.

Returns inventory from patient care units checking expiration dates and label matches. Assists with triaging general phone calls and forwards to pharmacists or technicians as needed. Answers inquiries not requiring specialized knowledge.

Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Tidies main pharmacy for efficient work environment. Offers ideas for increased process efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic understanding of computers and data entry required
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills required
  • Excellent attention to detail required
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
