About this role

Assists in the communication and dispensing of medications via mail. Maintains records and reports and ensures sufficient inventories at workstations.

Assists Pharmacist(s) in non-professional aspects of preparing and dispensing medication. Fills, packages, labels and stocks medications manually or mechanically.

Handles high volume customer inquiries and resolves third party rejects. Operates point-of-sale cash system and manages inbound and outbound patient and prescriber communications.

Documents transactions and maintains clean work environment. Complies with FDA mandates and manufacturer restrictions including REMS programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Certification
  • Current license as a registered pharmacy technician in NYS (required as of 4/25/21)
  • 1-3 years of relevant pharmacy experience
  • Knowledge of FDA mandates and Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) programs
  • Ability to handle high volume customer inquiries and third party rejections
  • Proficiency in computer systems for order entry and documentation

Responsibilities

  • Assists Pharmacist(s) in non-professional aspects of preparing and dispensing medication
  • Fills, packages, labels and stocks medications manually or mechanically
  • Labels containers of drugs according to department specification
  • Calculates required dosing and day supply for orders
  • Resolves third party rejects and responds to high volume customer inquiries
  • Handles correspondence to patients (inbound calls, chats, emails) and makes outbound calls to prescribers and patients
  • Operates point-of-sale cash system according to department policies
  • Maintains sufficient inventory at workstations and transports pharmacy material as needed
