About this role

Assists in the communication and dispensing of medications via mail. Maintains records and reports and ensures sufficient inventories at workstations.

Assists Pharmacist(s) in non-professional aspects of preparing and dispensing medication. Fills, packages, labels and stocks medications manually or mechanically.

Handles high volume customer inquiries and resolves third party rejects. Operates point-of-sale cash system and manages inbound and outbound patient and prescriber communications.

Documents transactions and maintains clean work environment. Complies with FDA mandates and manufacturer restrictions including REMS programs.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Current Pharmacy Technician Certification
Current license as a registered pharmacy technician in NYS (required as of 4/25/21)
1-3 years of relevant pharmacy experience
Knowledge of FDA mandates and Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) programs
Ability to handle high volume customer inquiries and third party rejections
Proficiency in computer systems for order entry and documentation

Responsibilities

Assists Pharmacist(s) in non-professional aspects of preparing and dispensing medication
Fills, packages, labels and stocks medications manually or mechanically
Labels containers of drugs according to department specification
Calculates required dosing and day supply for orders
Resolves third party rejects and responds to high volume customer inquiries
Handles correspondence to patients (inbound calls, chats, emails) and makes outbound calls to prescribers and patients
Operates point-of-sale cash system according to department policies
Maintains sufficient inventory at workstations and transports pharmacy material as needed
