About this role

Dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical products using standard chemical and physical procedures to fill prescriptions issued by physicians and other qualified prescribers. This role ensures accurate and safe medication distribution in a community pharmacy setting. All responsibilities are essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Reviews and verifies prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, interactions, and clinical appropriateness. Provides counseling and drug-related information for prescriptions and over-the-counter items to patients, as needed. Communicates effectively with provider offices, pharmacies, and insurers to fulfill prescription orders.

Dispenses medications in accordance with established rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Coordinates with couriers to monitor and track delivery of prescriptions in a timely manner. Complies with all relevant policies, procedures, regulations, REMS program requirements, and accrediting bodies.

Maintains accurate records compliant with rules, regulations, and policies. Manages inventory and supplies for the pharmacy as needed, receiving and checking for accuracy. Performs related duties as required to support pharmacy operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, required
  • Current license to practice as a Pharmacist in New York State, required
  • Specialized certifications, as needed
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, required
  • Knowledge of prescription interactions and clinical appropriateness
  • Familiarity with REMS program requirements and accrediting bodies
  • Ability to maintain compliant pharmacy records
