We are looking for an experienced pharmacy technician to grow skills by developing and integrating a medication reconciliation program within the hospital. Inpatient and retail technicians welcome with knowledge of medications, brand/generic, common uses and dosages required. This onsite position is located at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

Key characteristics include being adaptable, flexible to change, agile mindset, able to work independently and with interdisciplinary teams. Demonstrate problem-solving abilities, empathy and patient focus. Hours currently Monday-Friday 9am to 6pm, expanding to weekends, closed all major holidays.

Day-to-day involves creating patient profiles, entering prescription information, addressing insurance and reimbursement issues, preparing medications for pharmacist review, managing inventory, and triaging calls. Supply and monitor ambulatory dispensing robotic technology. Actively participate by delivering medications to patients via concierge program.

Join to achieve business goals for the Ambulatory Pharmacy while intervening with Pharmacy Benefit Managers to resolve adjudication issues. Assist pharmacists with therapeutic consults. Perform related duties as assigned for ongoing growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience
  • Pharmacy technician certification with a national technical certification organization, such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other comparable national certification
  • State pharmacy certification acceptable if core competencies equal to or better than national certification requirements
  • Knowledge of medications, brand/generic, common uses and dosages
  • Adaptable and flexible to change with agile mindset
  • Able to work independently and with interdisciplinary teams in the hospital
  • Problem solving abilities with empathy and patient focus
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Responsibilities

  • Create a patient profile in the pharmacy information system
  • Enter necessary prescription plan information and new patient prescription information into the pharmacy information system
  • Address insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues by communicating with insurance providers, patients and pharmacists
  • Retrieve and prepare medication for pharmacist review and verification
  • Prepare inventory reports, submit, receive, and place inventory in stock
  • Answer inbound telephone calls and triage calls to appropriate staff
  • Supply and monitor ambulatory dispensing robotic technology
  • Deliver medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients as outlined by the concierge prescription program
