About this role

South Country Co-op is hiring a motivated and customer-focused Pharmacy Assistant at our 13th Ave Pharmacy in Medicine Hat, Alberta. This role is ideal for someone passionate about customer service and working in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist on Duty. Daily responsibilities include prescription data entry, preliminary prescription filling, and assisting with customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality and high professional standards.

The position requires a strong focus on detail, discretion, and excellent patient care, with duties subject to the limitations defined by the Provincial Regulatory Body. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring adaptability to changing customer volumes and workflow priorities.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 15 years of age and completed Grade 9
  • Previous pharmacy experience is an asset
  • Required to undergo a Criminal Record Check in accordance with the Alberta College of Pharmacy
  • Proficient in data entry; Microsoft Office experience is a plus
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism

Responsibilities

  • Perform prescription data entry and assist with the preliminary preparation of prescriptions
  • Provide exceptional customer service to pharmacy patients and guests
  • Maintain a clean, professional, and organized work area
  • Support pharmacists with inventory tasks and administrative functions
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and store procedures
  • Adapt to changing customer volumes and workflow priorities
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and high professional standards
