About this role

This Lead Pharmacy Technician role assists in managing pharmacy practices to ensure patients obtain appropriate medications in a timely, cost-effective, and efficient manner. The position works with department Supervisors, Managers, and Directors to develop workflows and policies that improve outcomes.

Day-to-day duties include assisting pharmacists in compounding, preparing, and dispensing prescriptions in a retail or community setting. In a medical center environment, responsibilities encompass unit dose dispensing, IV admixtures, compounding, and automated dispensing devices under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

You will join a small, wonderful team working closely with a variety of medical professionals to provide excellent compassionate care. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

This lead role maximizes scope of duties with greater operational responsibility, including educating others on emerging changes and guiding team members in day-to-day tasks. You will monitor work schedules, productivity, and work quality, and assist in changes to workflow.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or general education diploma (GED) required
  • Ability to understand written policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform various functions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn and utilize new technology as the profession of pharmacy evolves
  • Proficiency in multiple computer programs

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in compounding, preparing, and dispensing medical prescriptions according to written/faxed prescriptions
  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs and ensure equipment is functioning properly
  • Control inventory stock level and timeline to ensure adequate supplies
  • Perform unit dose dispensing, IV admixtures, compounding, and automated dispensing device functions in medical center settings
  • Monitor work schedules, productivity, and work quality of team members and assist in changes to workflow
  • Assist with billing related functions and departmental quality assurance
  • Participate in departmental problem-solving and maintain a safe working environment adhering to state laws and regulations
