About this role

This role combines technical pharmacy tasks with patient-facing responsibilities to support the preparation, labeling, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals. You will play an integral part in inventory management and quality assurance activities within a specialty infusion setting.

Your day-to-day involves coordinating new referrals and admissions by collaborating with nurses, customer service, and distribution teams. You will conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patient, drug, and disease information to identify potential drug-related problems and escalate issues to a clinician as needed.

You will work closely with pharmacists, nurses, other technicians, and patient care coordinators to schedule IV therapy preparations and home medical equipment orders. The environment is fast-paced and requires adherence to accreditation, OSHA, FDA, state, local, and federal regulations relevant to infusion pharmacy and home medical equipment.

This position offers a structured schedule of Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm with weekend rotations. You will have the opportunity to grow your expertise in home infusion therapy while contributing to patient care and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an approved/accredited pharmacy technician training program; IV certification preferred
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician license in state of practice per state regulations
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification as required by the state board of pharmacy in state of practice
  • One to three (1-3) years of related pharmacy experience in a home care setting, retail, or pharmacy setting
  • General knowledge of drug terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, drug use, and aseptic techniques
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work on-call evenings and weekends on an as-scheduled basis
  • Effective mathematical and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, accurately, and efficiently; valid driver's license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and facilitates new referrals and admissions through collaboration with nurses, customer service, and distribution
  • Conducts and documents initial and ongoing assessment of specific patient, drug, and disease information to identify real and potential drug-related problems or needs
  • Answers inquiries from patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, escalating to a clinician as needed
  • Coordinates and schedules the preparation of IV therapies and home medical equipment orders with the assistance of the Pharmacist
  • Prepares labels, prescriptions, and compounding/mixing worksheets; maintains product lot numbers, expiration dates, and batch records
  • Generates delivery and pick slips under the supervision of the Pharmacist; picks and pulls supplies and home medical equipment
  • Obtains supply inventories from patients/clients and communicates information to the Pharmacist, documenting all communication in patient progress notes
  • Adheres to all accreditation, OSHA, FDA, state, local, and federal regulations and standards relevant to infusion pharmacy and home medical equipment
