Join Martin's Point Health Care, an innovative not-for-profit organization offering care to people in Maine and beyond. As a per diem Pharmacy Technician, assist pharmacists in fulfilling prescription orders from start to finish while providing excellent customer service. Expect minimum availability of 8 hours per week, with possible additional coverage for vacations or absences.

Create and maintain accurate patient profiles with demographics, insurance, and allergies for timely prescription filling and insurance adjudication. Perform tasks across workstations including data entry, filling, shipping, call center, register, and inventory management. Utilize electronic Medical Record (Athena) to correspond with delivery staff on refills and non-clinical questions.

Abide by HIPAA, DOD, CMS, state, federal, and board of pharmacy regulations to protect privacy. Answer routine inquiries on drug coverage, prices, product availability, and services with discretion.

Participate in department meetings, process improvement activities, and maintenance of visual management and metrics. Balance quality and efficiency to support patient outcomes and team goals while reviewing reports to optimize medication purchasing decisions.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy Technician registration or certification
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, state, federal, and pharmacy board regulations
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software systems like Athena
  • Experience with prescription data entry and patient profile management
  • Familiarity with insurance adjudication and formulary processes
  • Ability to handle inventory management and purchasing reviews
  • Customer service skills for patient and clinical staff inquiries

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain accurate patient profiles including demographics, insurance, allergies to ensure accurate prescription filling and insurance adjudication
  • Balance quality and efficiency in the performance of all pharmacy tasks to contribute to patient outcomes and team goals
  • Answer routine inquiries regarding Health Plan drug coverage, prices, product availability, formulary listings, and pharmacy services
  • Abide by all HIPAA, DOD, CMS, state, federal and board of pharmacy laws and regulations
  • Perform all tasks associated with each workstation including data entry, filling, shipping, call center, register, and inventory management
  • Utilize the electronic Medical Record (Athena) to correspond with internal Delivery system staff on medication refills and non-clinical questions
  • Utilize established reports to review medication purchases and ensure best purchasing decisions to reduce expenses
  • Participate in department and pharmacy group meetings and process improvement activities
