Sentrex Health Solutions is a proudly Canadian company and fully integrated specialty distributor and patient support provider. We are seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Vancouver, BC, working on-site with 8-hour shifts between 7AM and 7PM.

The Pharmacy Assistant is primarily responsible for dispensary duties including prescription entry and processing, picking, packaging, and shipping of medications. You will also handle telephone inquiries, accounts receivables and payments, maintain inventory, and assist in compounding where permitted by scope of practice.

You will work independently under direction from the Pharmacist as well as within a high-performing team. All roles are cross-trained as permitted by scope of practice, and you may be required to help in other areas of the pharmacy when needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently under direction from a Pharmacist and within a team.
  • Accurate processing of prescriptions with attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service skills for interacting with clinic staff, nurses, and physicians.
  • Familiarity with insurance billing procedures and third-party payer issues.
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements for pharmacy operations.
  • Competence in inventory management and reconciliation.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained in other areas of the pharmacy as permitted by scope of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process prescriptions for all programs and medications, including following up on insurance billing issues with third-party payers and patient support programs.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to clinic staff, nurses, and physicians primarily by phone and email.
  • Label, pick, and package prescriptions in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate supply to patients.
  • Adhere to all relevant guidelines including established SOPs and applicable regulatory requirements set by the Provincial College of Pharmacists.
  • Ensure safe and appropriate storage of medications.
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing review of pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Manage inventory reconciliation including ordering, maintaining, and organizing inventory and packaging supplies to support dispensing.
  • Monitor fridge temperatures and report any variances directly to the Director of Pharmacy.
