The Pharmacy Assistant plays an important role in the quality and safety of medications, assisting in preparation, packaging, and organization of deliveries with exceptional attention to detail. Their support to Pharmacists and Technicians is essential to maintaining quality standards.

Your day-to-day involves ensuring accurate documentation of completed work as per policies and procedures. You will prepare prescriptions by gathering data from nursing staff to be filled via dispensary software, process and adjudicate prescriptions using Pacmed automation, and prepare creams and liquids. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment while upholding strict confidentiality and ethical standards is key.

This on-site role at the Calgary pharmacy follows a five-day workweek with on-call rotation for weekends. Training is provided for this contract position. CareRx welcomes applications from people with disabilities and offers accommodations upon request.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy calculations
  • Visual acuity, numeracy, detail oriented, manual dexterity appropriate for handling strip packs, prescription bottles and labels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, able to maintain a professional demeanor when speaking with clientele
  • Remains calm under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Experience with KROLL and/or Pacmed an asset
