About this role
This role monitors drug therapy to improve patient outcomes and quality of care, recommending rational and cost-effective pharmacotherapeutic alternatives while ensuring accurate and efficient medication distribution. The clinical pharmacist also implements and evaluates nutritional support and pharmacokinetic regimens.
Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising pharmacy technical staff and collaborating with the healthcare team to optimize medication therapy in a fast-paced hospital environment. The pharmacist must be able to prioritize and change tasks frequently and quickly while maintaining a focus on patient safety.
Huntsville Hospital is a 971-bed facility recently named Best Regional Hospital and #2 in Alabama by U.S. News & World Report, featuring a Level 1 Trauma Center, a Level III Regional Neonatal ICU, and specialized cardiac and stroke programs. Requirements
- Bachelor degree in pharmacy or doctor of pharmacy degree from an accredited university
- License to practice pharmacy in Alabama required
- Completion of post graduate pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical experience strongly preferred
- Proof of current AHA BLS must be provided or obtained by the end of the orientation period
- Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Must be proficient in mathematics
