About this role

WellSpan Health is seeking a PRN Pharmacy Technician to join the Acute Care Pharmacy team at Ephrata Community Hospital. In this role, you will assist with the preparation and distribution of medications, supporting a high-performing pharmacy department within an integrated delivery system.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include receiving and stocking pharmaceutical deliveries, preparing and labeling medications, and delivering them to care areas throughout the hospital and off-site locations. You will also manage pharmacy inventory using electronic systems, monitor product expirations, and respond to recalls.

The role involves compounding non-sterile and sterile medication preparations, performing cleaning and disinfection procedures, and handling clerical duties such as answering phones and maintaining supplies. You will work a rotating schedule of first and second shifts, including weekends, with 8-16 hours per month, requiring more hours during onboarding and training.

You will be part of a team committed to outstanding customer service, teamwork, and fiscal responsibility. There is eligibility for advanced technician positions based on job performance and successful completion of requirements established in the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder criteria grids.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
No experience required; training provided upon hire.
Ability to comply with HIPAA regulations for protecting sensitive patient data.
Ability to report actual errors, potential errors, and hazardous or unsafe conditions.
Flexibility to work occasional shifts outside of normally scheduled hours based on department needs.
Familiarity with electronic inventory management systems preferred.
Basic math and measurement skills for preparing medications.

Responsibilities

Receive and stock deliveries of pharmaceuticals and other supplies.
Prepare, package, and label medications prior to dispensing.
Deliver medications to care areas within the hospital and to off-site locations.
Manage pharmacy inventory using electronic inventory management systems.
Monitor product expirations and remove outdated stock; respond to product recalls.
Compound non-sterile and sterile medication preparations.
Perform cleaning and disinfection procedures and complete clerical duties such as answering telephones.
