About this role
It's more than a career, it's a calling. Provides pharmaceutical care to patients, verifies medication orders, compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and hospital policy. Serves as a resource to other healthcare professionals including pharmacy students and residents.
Ensures safety and appropriateness of medication therapy through order verification, dispensing, home medication reconciliation, chart review, patient counseling, lab value monitoring and dose/therapy adjustment as applicable. Documents medication related plans and interventions in electronic medical record. Provides clinical consultation delivering best-practice, evidence-based information to practitioners.
Oversees the medication dispensing process to ensure accurate and timely delivery of optimal pharmacotherapy to patients. Supervises pharmacy technicians and interns who support the drug delivery system. Makes recommendations and encourages safe and cost-effective pharmacotherapy through multi-disciplinary collaboration.
Precepts pharmacy students and residents, as applicable. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Ensures that patient care meets standards of safety and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D; Bachelor of Pharmacy) from accredited school of pharmacy
- No experience required
- Pharmacist - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 days of employment
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far and to identify and distinguish colors
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication
Responsibilities
