The Pharmacy Technician provides 8-hour shift coverage in the inpatient pharmacy at Driscoll Children's Hospital. This role assists the pharmacist in the preparation, filling, and delivery of medications while serving as a liaison for timely information and product delivery to customers.

Team members maintain confidentiality, follow hospital policies, and demonstrate ethical business practices in a pediatric environment. Collaboration with pharmacists ensures all orders are verified and that legal limitations of the technician role are observed during daily operations.

Opportunities include training new pharmacists and technicians, supporting accurate revenue capture through billing, and completing annual aseptic technique certification. The position offers exposure to diverse inpatient and outpatient pharmacy functions within a children's hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and selection of medications
  • Assure all orders are prepared accurately, labeled correctly, and verified by a pharmacist
  • Participate in medication cart filling and ensure doses match the fill list
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas, clinics, and off-site locations
  • Complete medication credits, restock returns, and check for missing doses
  • Answer phone calls promptly by stating departmental area and name
  • Assist the Pharmacy Buyer to maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies
  • Ensure accurate revenue capture by correctly entering billing information
