About this role

The Pharmacy Technician I Inpatient assists in all aspects of drug distribution within the scope of responsibility. This role maintains records and computer data related to patients and medications. Functions are performed in accordance with pharmacy law and written guidelines of the pharmacy department for both LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals.

Performs technical age-specific patient care activities as required. Assembles, troubleshoots and calibrates patient care equipment while using computer and software programs necessary to the position. Documents legibly and pays close attention to detail throughout all tasks.

Communicates effectively and professionally with others while being assertive and consistent in following policies. Works calmly and responds courteously when under pressure. Collaborates with others and accepts direction in a hospital pharmacy setting.

Able to think critically, organize and prioritize workload, and manage multiple assignments effectively. Recalls information and solves problems while distinguishing colors and smells as necessary for patient care. Supports the teaching and healing ministry through excellence and integrity.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Pharmacy Technology or completed a course of training specified by the Board required
  • California Pharmacy Technician license required
  • Able to write legibly and speak
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing and on the telephone
  • Able to perform basic math functions essential to position
  • Able to think critically, organize and prioritize workload, and manage multiple assignments effectively
  • Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care
  • Able to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone
