About this role

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, procures, prepares, packages, and distributes medications and pharmaceutical supplies to assist in providing quality pharmaceutical care for all patients. Works day shift from 7a to 3:30p.

Maintains established inventory of drugs and supplies, re-orders and stocks items upon delivery. Properly operates, troubleshoots, monitors, and cleans departmental automation and equipment to ensure timely distribution.

Follows departmental, USP, DEA, FDA, OSHA, and EPA guidelines when handling hazardous and non-hazardous products. Responds to customer needs by answering phone calls and triaging requests appropriately.

Participates in professional activities and attends educational in-services to maintain knowledge of current trends. May assist in orientation and training of new personnel, serving as a resource for less experienced staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program or enrollment in a professional-related school preferred.
  • 6 months experience as Pharmacy Technician or completion of ASHP-accredited tech training program preferred.
  • Current CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA and active Georgia Pharmacy Technician registration, or current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy with a current Georgia Pharmacy Intern license.
  • Must maintain certification and registration through entire length of employment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and carry objects up to 35 lbs; frequent standing and walking required.

Responsibilities

  • Procure, prepare, package, distribute, and dispose medications and pharmaceutical supplies under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
  • Maintain established inventory of drugs and commonly used supplies; re-order and stock items upon delivery to ensure immediate availability.
  • Properly operate, troubleshoot, monitor, and clean departmental automation and equipment.
  • Ensure pharmacist product verification and facilitate timely distribution of medications to maintain product integrity.
  • Maintain accurate records and patient profiles including charging and crediting.
  • Respond timely to customers' needs by answering phone calls, receiving and distributing messages, and triaging requests appropriately.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance inspections focused on TJC requirements, including examination of product integrity and expiration.
  • Assist in orientation and training of new personnel; serve as a resource for less experienced staff providing technical information and guidance.
