About this role

Coordinates and manages distributive and clinical services provided by the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, including supervision of personnel and educational programs offered by the department. This role ensures that all services meet or exceed national standards.

Develops and implements processes through orientation, training, and education to ensure staff competence is assessed and maintained throughout employment. Formulates and refines systems used in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients. Directs activities of staff and monitors performance to clarify expectations and promote cooperation.

Directly supervises staff in areas of primary responsibility and performs personnel functions such as interviewing, hiring, and performance management. Assures staff schedules and daily work are coordinated and available in a timely manner. Works with the administrative team to ensure compliance with national standards and product standards.

Investigates and studies trends and developments in pharmacy practice, developing policies and procedures and operational manuals. Introduces new products, technology, and procedures to improve clinical and distribution operations. Identifies and seeks approval for new initiatives to drive continuous improvement in pharmacy services.

Requirements

  • Must possess current pharmacist license as required by state board (MD, WV, or PA).
  • Completion of a health-system pharmacy administration residency program.
  • OR completion of a non-health-system pharmacy administration residency program AND one year experience as a clinical pharmacist or pharmacy administrator.
  • OR three years of pharmacy administrative experience.
  • OR five years of pharmacist practice experience.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Health-System Pharmacy Administration, or Public Health.
  • Preferred: Pharmacy Specialty Certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS).
