About this role

This role serves as an onsite Pharmacy Technician at a health system clinic, acting as the primary point of contact for patient services. It involves facilitating benefits verification and prior authorization to ensure patients receive timely access to medication therapy.

Day-to-day responsibilities include navigating the healthcare system to achieve prescription fulfillment and improved patient outcomes. The technician provides subject matter expertise to physician clinics on the preferred patient referral process and collaborates with a centralized Patient Service team.

This position is 100% onsite at Adventist Health Clinic in Yuba City, CA, with potential remote support for other sites. The technician interacts daily with clinic staff, physicians, and pharmacy contacts, building strong relationships and promoting the health system’s preferred specialty pharmacy.

This role offers the opportunity to influence business development and execute marketing plans that expand services and increase specialty prescription capture. The technician is responsible for delivering professional presentations and implementing process improvements to enhance the customer experience.

Requirements

  • Active Pharmacy Technician certification (e.g., CPhT) preferred.
  • Knowledge of prior authorization and insurance benefits verification processes.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and pharmacy documentation systems.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and provide exceptional customer service to clinic staff and patients.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a centralized patient service team.
  • Familiarity with healthcare systems and patient referral processes.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills for delivering educational meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Navigate the healthcare system to achieve prescription fulfillment and improved patient outcomes.
  • Serve as the initial contact for all identified client specialty pharmacy prescriptions, handling marketing, prior authorization, and documentation.
  • Influence physician and clinic staff to refer patients to the health system’s preferred specialty pharmacy through education and customer service.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact ('face to the customer') responsible for service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with clinic staff, physicians, pharmacy, and hospital contacts through face-to-face interactions.
  • Deliver professional presentations and facilitate educational meetings to support customer relationships.
  • Consult onsite and implement process improvements to integrate services and enhance the customer experience.
  • Collaborate with the centralized Patient Service team to facilitate benefits verification and prior authorizations.
