The Pharmacy Technician Specialist – Infusion Center serves as a key member of the ambulatory infusion team, providing advanced technical and operational support to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient delivery of infusion therapies. This role coordinates medication procurement, preparation, and inventory management while collaborating closely with pharmacists, nurses, providers, and patients.

Day-to-day responsibilities include managing prior authorization support, scheduling coordination, and regulatory compliance activities to optimize workflow. The technician also supports intravenous (IV) product compounding and ensures the infusion center operates smoothly and in accordance with all standards.

This position is based within the Marshall Health Network, working alongside a dedicated team of pharmacy and clinical professionals in a fast-paced ambulatory infusion setting. The environment emphasizes collaboration, precision, and a shared commitment to high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Junior College/Technical School is preferred
  • West Virginia Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration is required
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification is required
  • 2 Years of Position-Related Experience is required
  • Experience working as a pharmacy technician in an inpatient hospital pharmacy, infusion pharmacy, or infusion center setting
  • Previous involvement with prior authorizations, patient scheduling, and/or intravenous (IV) product compounding

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating medication procurement and preparation for infusion therapies
  • Managing inventory of infusion-related medications and supplies
  • Supporting prior authorization processes for specialty infusion drugs
  • Assisting with patient scheduling coordination for infusion appointments
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to safety standards
  • Collaborating with pharmacists, nurses, and providers to optimize workflow
  • Performing intravenous (IV) product compounding as needed
