Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Hospital/Retail Pharmacy experience preferred
  • PTCB or NHA certification active or acquire within 6 months of hire
  • Current active registration with the State of NJ Board of Pharmacy required
  • Computer skills required for pharmacy program data entry

Responsibilities

  • Verify information on prescriptions is accurate and interpret medication orders
  • Input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy program for new prescriptions and refill requests
  • Collaborate with the pharmacist on drugs that need review for drug-drug and drug-allergy interactions
  • Process prescriptions through the insurance plan and resolve claim issues
  • Contact patients when medications are not available due to back order or out of stock
  • Requisition incoming purchased orders, stock pharmacy equipment, and remove expired medications
  • Contact patients on medications requiring prior authorizations
  • Answer high-volume phone calls from prescriber offices and patients
