This role focuses on providing pharmacy related services in a hospital setting. It delivers pharmaceuticals and includes professionals trained to dispense medicine and controlled substances. As an experienced individual contributor, it directs lower level professionals and oversees design, implementation, or delivery of processes using specialized knowledge from advanced education.

Clinical pharmacists work closely with health practitioners to review and approve medication orders, monitor drug therapies, and provide drug information. They improve patient health by providing pharmaceutical care to individuals and serve as a resource to physicians, nurses, and other professionals. This position facilitates development, implementation, and maintenance of systems promoting desirable patient outcomes.

They educate students, interns, residents, nurses, and patients while participating in drug therapy research. Clinical pharmacists supervise and direct support personnel. They work independently with general supervision in a collaborative healthcare environment.

The role applies practical knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Problems faced are difficult but not complex, influencing others through explanation of facts, policies, and practices. It offers opportunities to lead departmental initiatives and contribute to patient care advancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
  • Pharmacist License
  • One (1) year of related experience
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred
  • Pharmacy Residency training preferred
