About this role

Nuclear Pharmacy at Cardinal Health provides radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines. The Tech I assists the pharmacist and Tech II in pharmacy operations and customer interactions, including answering questions and relaying information to physicians and pharmacists. This role involves learning basic aspects of facility and equipment preparation, including cleaning and inventory management.

Daily operations include preparing the facility through cleaning, equipment and quality control testing, following standard operating procedures. Tech I collects and processes customer orders for timely delivery of medications to patients and performs administrative tasks to assist customers. The schedule is typically Monday-Friday from 6:30am-2:30pm, with flexibility for different days and hours based on business needs.

In this nuclear environment, maintaining pharmacy safety involves following and recording daily infection control procedures. The role requires comfort working with radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy, assisting in quality checks and functional testing. Team support includes taking direction from other pharmacy techs and assisting dispatchers and drivers with package preparation.

As a trainee, Tech I develops skills and knowledge of pharmacy operations, participating in the dispensing process and order fulfillment. Occasional deliveries using company vehicle build practical experience. Flexibility and manual dexterity support ongoing tasks in this regulated setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician registration strongly preferred
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required (Class E Missouri driver’s license or equivalent preferred, or able to obtain)
  • Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle
  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting and holding of small objects
  • Comfortable working in a nuclear environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacist and other pharmacy staff in preparing facility for daily operations through cleaning, equipment and quality control testing
  • Follow standard operating procedures to facilitate ongoing pharmacy operations
  • Collect and process customer orders to ensure efficient communication and timely delivery of medications to patients
  • Perform administrative pharmacy tasks, answer questions and assist customers to facilitate pharmacy operations and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain pharmacy safety through following and recording completion of daily infection control procedures
  • Take direction from other pharmacy techs to develop skills and knowledge of pharmacy operations
  • Assist dispatchers and drivers in preparing packages for delivery and occasionally make deliveries using company vehicle
