About this role
The Regional Clinical Pharmacist supports AON’s formulary implementation initiatives, including drug utilization reporting and analysis, therapeutic drug interchange programs, and Biosimilar integration. This role involves creating, updating, and communicating education material to medical providers. It also includes performing therapeutics interchanges in the EMR with prescriber approval or per company protocols.
Daily responsibilities encompass serving as a liaison between central services and regional clinics on drug therapeutics, education, adverse event monitoring, and clinical outcomes. The pharmacist addresses clinical pharmacy inquiries and assesses opportunities to improve support and care delivery. Routine tasks include daily reporting reviews of drugs requiring changes and communicating with prescribers.
In this role, collaboration occurs with pharmacy operations, revenue cycle leadership, EMR teams, and MiBA for insights on formulary decisions and adherence. Support extends to regional clinics through monitoring non-preferred agents and insurance coverage for therapeutic interchanges. The environment focuses on oncology specialty medications and value-based care programs.
Opportunities involve developing strategic programs for formulary management, analyzing adherence data, and participating in clinical initiatives for quality and sustainability. The position drives adherence dashboards, drug utilization evaluations, and education strategies to optimize health outcomes. Growth comes from overseeing injectable medications and integrating biosimilars across regions.
Requirements
- Active pharmacy license suitable for clinical practice
- Expertise in oncology therapeutics and specialty injectable medications
- Proficiency in formulary management and therapeutic drug interchanges
- Experience with EMR regimen builds and treatment plan validation
- Knowledge of drug utilization reporting and analysis
- Familiarity with biosimilar integration and value-based care programs
- Ability to monitor adverse events and clinical outcomes
Responsibilities
- Support pharmacy operations and revenue cycle leadership in development and maintenance of best practices for Formulary Management
- Oversee utilization of specialty and oncology injectable medications and develop strategic programs
- Perform Daily Reporting Review of Drugs requiring change and communicate with prescriber
- Monitor and review all AON patients receiving non-preferred therapeutic agents and assess insurance coverage for interchanges
- Develop and maintain an AON formulary adherence dashboard at the clinic and region level
- Analyze formulary adherence data and cross-reference with value-based care programs
- Develop communication strategies and content to update clinicians on formulary changes
- Collaborate with MiBA for insight initiatives including formulary decision and adherence
