About this role
Works under the direction and supervision of the Pharmacist on duty, the Pharmacy Supervisor, and the Community Pharmacy Manager. The primary job function is to prepare and distribute medications. Performs quality control, routine maintenance and other duties as assigned.
Profiles physician orders in computer system for pharmacist review. Delivers medications to Meds to Beds patients in Emergency Room. Enters patient charges/credits into computer profile system and checks incoming orders for accuracy.
Recognizes narcotic discrepancies and performs audits as necessary. Maintains general cleanliness of work area/department. Communicates with Purchasing Agent regarding stock levels and items needed.
Reviews patient medication profiles to identify medications available through Patient Assistance. Performs medication reconciliation by interviewing patients and contacts pharmacies for home medications lists. Completes applications for manufacturer programs and educates patients on re-ordering prescriptions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam
- Completion of a board approved Pharmacy Technician training program or National Certification
- Successful completion of National Qualification test required (PTCB or NHA)
- State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy Certified Technician Registration required for Ohio
- State of Kentucky Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration Required for Kentucky
- Pharmacy Technician training program or certification or prior technician work experience
