Tennessee Oncology, one of the nation’s largest community-based cancer care specialists, is home to one of the leading clinical trial networks. Established in 1976, its mission is to provide access to high-quality cancer care and clinical research expertise for all patients at convenient community locations. The role involves operational and clinical pharmacist responsibilities within a rapidly growing in-practice oncology specialty pharmacy.
Provide comprehensive oversight of workflows, audits, and staff supervision in access, fulfillment, accounts receivables, education counseling, medication adherence, admixture, therapy management, and drug information. Verify details of orders entered in EMR by providers, adjust regimens as necessary, and ensure proper billing and administration documentation. Demonstrate clinical acuity in patient profiles for customized medication counseling on dosing, side effects, storage, missed doses, and interactions.
Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary healthcare team for adherence, side effect management, and optimal therapy across administration routes. Engage in staff supervision including coaching, annual assessments, time approvals, and training coordination for Patient Advocates and access teams. Serve as liaison for pharmaceutical representatives and assist in navigating complex patient benefit cases.
Utilize critical thinking to integrate clinic and pharmacy processes for workflow efficiencies and regulatory compliance. Participate in quality assurance, policy updates, REMS certifications, and after-hours on-call coverage. Assure realization of goals and sustainment of projects to optimize patient care satisfaction in oncology specialty pharmacy.
Requirements
- Proficiency in interpretation and application of medical literature for appeals and drug information
- Clinical knowledge in oncology drug to disease state matching
- Experience in specialty pharmacy workflows, prior authorizations, and patient access coordination
- Ability to customize counseling for dosing, side effects, storage, handling, and drug interactions
- Familiarity with EMR order verification and regimen adjustments
- Skills in quality assurance and regulatory compliance in pharmacy operations
- REMS and counselor certifications for required products
Responsibilities

- Maintain REMS certifications, adhere to SOPs, and provide after-hours on-call coverage
