About this role

Southwest Care Center is a non-profit FQHC-LAL providing medical, behavioral health, and pharmacy services to the communities of Santa Fe and Albuquerque. The Pharmacy Technician supports the Alameda Clinic by participating in all aspects of filling prescriptions and maintaining pharmacy standards.

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, this role performs clerical work to meet legal requirements and interacts directly with patients to coordinate safe medication practices. The technician serves as a patient advocate using good judgment and effective communication at all times.

Pharmacy Technicians model professionalism and the values of the organization while delivering patient-focused services. The position requires compliance with 340B, Board of Pharmacy, and DEA requirements in a community health setting serving the underserved.

This role offers opportunities to develop skills through professional development programs while supporting gender equity medicine, HIV/HepC services, and syringe exchange programs within the community.

Requirements

  • Entry-level with 1 year of healthcare or pharmacy experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Valid Pharmacy Technician license from the NM Board of Pharmacy (can obtain upon hire).
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate from PTCB (can obtain upon hire).
  • Maintains BLS Certification (current certification a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update patient profiles and prescription files.
  • Enter prescriptions into electronic system efficiently and accurately.
  • Fill prescriptions and coordinate auto refill for applicable patients.
  • Prepare packages for shipping and delivery.
  • Comply with 340B, Board of Pharmacy, and DEA requirements.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to resolve coverage issues and initiate prior authorizations.
  • Run register, coordinate billing, and balance cash at end of day.
  • Reorder and restock drug and related materials and verify receipt against invoices.
